Your Home May Need an Inspection

The road to purchasing a new insurance policy for your home isn’t always as straightforward as it should ideally be. In some cases, it may be necessary to have an inspection done, depending on the insurance company. Furthermore, options are vast when it comes to choosing an inspector, potentially adding to the complications. Based on which insurance company you go with, the following are some examples of inspections that may need to be carried out before the insurer sends you a policy.

A four-point inspection may be required for homes that were constructed over three decades ago. This inspection will look into the pipes, roofing, electrical, and HVAC of the home. Only these four items should be taken into account in this type of inspection. Anything beyond that may require a full home inspection if, for example, the inspector also takes a look at appliances or the home’s gutters.

True to its name, inspections of roof certification will assess the age, condition of the roof and what its life expectancy is projected to be. During this sort of inspection, an inspector may snap a couple of pictures of the home’s roofing.

Make sure to meticulously research your insurance company and inspector before making a decision.
