Roofing Company Defrauds Homeowners out of Thousands

Last month, the owner of a Florida-based roofing company was arrested after several homeowners were allegedly defrauded out of more than $45,000, according to an Insurance Journal article. Additionally, the roofing company was alleged to have worked without workers compensation insurance.

It is alleged that the roofing company owner defrauded about six homeowners after requiring them to make deposits upfront prior to beginning work on the roof. These jobs were either never begun or they remained incomplete. Collectively, the homeowners incurred a loss of just over $49,000.

The roofing company owner is facing potential charges of organized scheme to defraud, working without having workers comp, and theft/misappropriation of construction funds.
