The summer season begins this Friday, which means many of us will be probably venturing off to another part of the country or the world to make the most of the season. Instead of constantly worrying about your home, some simple tips can give you some degree of peace of mind and help keep the home safe.
A simple way to possibly deter burglars is to put your lights on a timer so that it appears as though someone is home. If you own smart lights, you can also turn these off whenever you like provided you have a working Internet connection wherever you happen to be.
Consider using deadbolts on doors as these will help with keeping burglars out and they may also result in receiving a discount on your homeowner’s insurance. With that in mind, you may also wish to consider a burglar alarm which will also give you a discount and may deter less experienced criminals.
Speaking of vacation, as tempting as it may be to share with everyone your adventures, it may be wise to refrain from making it obvious that you are not home. Consider informing only a few trusted friends or family about your whereabouts and save the pictures for when you return.
