Florida’s Department of Financial Services’ Division of Investigative and Forensic Services is putting together a team of investigators looking to crack down on post-storm fraud. A trio of teams are planning to operate in areas throughout the state significantly affected by Hurricane Irma, including Miami-Dade County.
The teams will be working directly with prosecutors to address fraudsters that may be attempting to swindle homeowners. These teams are comprised of trained individuals with extensive knowledge regarding property and casualty fraud. Besides cracking down on fraud, the team also intends to educate homeowners and associations on what signs to watch out for.
