South Florida’s Immigrant Detainment Situation

  • South Florida’s Immigrant Detainment Situation

inmigracionSouth Florida is once again gaining national attention, this time for allegedly detaining immigrants without having an arrest warrant. The detainment is to comply with the immigration policy instituted by the Trump Administration. A federal lawsuit has since been filed by The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), deeming it unconstitutional.

The detainment involves an 18-year-old man who also happens to be a United States citizen. The ACLU believes Miami-Dade County is violating the fourth amendment of the United States Constitution by detaining people without having a warrant. The fourth amendment protects individuals from being arrested unreasonably.
